Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know — answered in plain English.

Q: Is LovePDFs really free?

Yes! All core tools are 100% free with no sign-up required. Unlike traditional sites, we do not pay for heavy cloud servers to process your documents—all CPU work occurs locally in your browser. This reduces our infrastructure costs to near zero, letting us provide unlimited, restriction-free access. We support the service with standard Google AdSense display ads.

Q: What does client-side WebAssembly processing mean?

Traditionally, online PDF converters upload your files to their servers, process them remotely, and send them back. LovePDFs is different. When you load a tool page, the browser downloads a secure WebAssembly (Wasm) binary library. This library runs directly in your browser tab at near-native hardware speed. Your files are read and modified strictly within your local device memory, meaning your document data never travels across the web or touches our servers.

Q: Are my files secure and private?

Absolutely. Since we do not transmit your documents to any external server, your file contents, metadata, and filenames remain private. Your data never leaves your device's RAM. This architecture provides zero-trust security, making LovePDFs compliant with corporate data protection standards and global regulations like GDPR and CCPA.

Q: Is there a file size limit or daily usage limit?

No. Traditional server-based tools restrict file sizes (e.g., 20MB limits) to prevent server overload. Since LovePDFs utilizes your device's local memory, we do not impose any artificial caps on file size or the number of documents you can process. You can merge, split, or compress files of any size, limited only by your computer or phone's available RAM and processing power.

Q: How does browser-based local compression work?

When you use our Compress PDF tool, our local library scans the document structure. It locates embedded raster image objects, downsamples their resolution (DPI) according to your selected quality preset, flattens duplicate form layers, and strips unnecessary metadata streams. The text streams remain fully vector and lossless. The entire process takes place in your browser RAM, giving you a compressed file instantly without upload delays.

Q: Can I use LovePDFs on mobile devices?

Yes. LovePDFs is built using a fully responsive, modern web framework. It works in Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android, and other mobile browsers. You can upload files directly from your phone's storage or file system, execute any conversion locally, and download the output instantly.

Q: What browsers are supported?

Our WebAssembly engines are fully compatible with all modern, standards-compliant browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge. For heavy processes (like converting massive image batches or compressing large files), we recommend using Google Chrome for the best memory handling and fastest execution.

Q: Why does security.html claim no tracking but some pages have Google Analytics?

We use Google Analytics to measure visitor counts, page views, and geographic usage trends. This data is aggregated and does not contain personal information. We do not track document content, text layers, filenames, or file data. We have updated our Security page to clarify this, ensuring transparent compliance.

Q: Can I merge documents with different page orientations?

Yes. Our Merge PDF tool shows visual previews of all pages. If your document has landscape diagrams mixed with portrait pages, you can rotate pages individually before clicking merge to ensure the entire final document has a clean, consistent orientation.

Q: How do I contact support or request a feature?

If you have feedback, find a bug, or want to suggest a new client-side tool, contact our Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir-based support team through our Contact page. We regularly review requests to expand our WebAssembly tools collection.
